Mylee, Guardian of the kitties!

I'm going to make sure
no one but Chance eats that food!
All of our cats are on meal based feeding. Parker (the orange and white tabby) and Chance (the grey and white tabby, also the brain damaged one) get fed in the same room (the computer room), just because its easiest. Up until a couple months ago, if we didn't watch Parker, he would wolf down his food, and then go steal the rest of Chance's food away from him!

Mylee keeping an eye on Parker!

When Mylee came to live with us, she saw what was going on and put a stop to it! She keeps Parker away from Chance's food. Every meal. Without fail. So now we don't have to keep our eyes glued to Chance and his foodbowl for 30 minutes (he's a slow eater, Parker eats in about 5 minutes or less).

Eat your food, Chance!
But tonight, for whatever reason, Mylee wasn't in here when we put Parker and Chance's food down for them to eat. And I wasn't watching them eat, because I'm so used to Mylee taking care of it! A few minutes go by, and I turn around in my chair. Parker is done with his food and eating out of Chance's bowl, and I'm like what the heck? Mylee isn't here! So I open the door and call Mylee in here, and she immediately puts Parker up in a chair and starts guarding Chance and his food. ;) I'm really going to miss her when she finds her forever home!

Everything you want to know about Mylee

Age:       ~ 10 months
Sex:       Female
Coat:     Smooth and short coat, black and white
Weight:  30 lbs
Activity Level:    Active Companion or Sports Competitor

Mylee was found at Collin County Animal Shelter at 7 months old. She was an owner surrender but we have no idea why because she is such a sweetheart and just wants to be loved! She was a little thin, but not in bad shape. We scooped her up right away!

My name is Mylee, and I will wiggle my way into your heart and your home! In fact, in addition to my name, I also come to “Wiggle wiggle wiggle” (like the song)! I am a Border Jack (Border Collie/Jack Russel mix) and am always told how smart I am! I have loads of energy and absolutely love running free at the dog park and going on long walks and jogs! I am GREAT on a leash as long as I am wearing my comfort harness. It stops me from pulling and allows me to enjoy my walk! I also love playing with toys. My favorite game is holding a tennis ball or other toy in my mouth and running as fast as I can around the dog park getting all of the other dogs to chase me!  In addition, I enjoy playing tug with rope toys, fetching balls, and I am learning to catch Frisbees! I have caught the Frisbee several times now in the backyard at my foster mom and dad’s house! My foster parents think I would do really well at agility training or herding, and maybe even Flyball!

I have been very submissive to every dog I have encountered (which is well over 100 because I get to go to the dog park almost every day!), and will roll over and show my belly to let them know I think it is ok that they are in charge! I’ll even wag my tail, wiggle my entire body, and try to lick them while I’m still submitting on my back!

I love to play so much, and have so much love to give, that I would probably do best in a home with at least one other dog who also likes to play and who would keep me company when my family was away from the house. The good thing is, that as long as I get activity each day (long walk, jog/run, dog park, or some sort of job perhaps), I settle down in the house pretty nicely, and love to curl up at your feet, in my dog bed, and especially next to you on the sofa.

I love to be with my people whenever possible, and with other dogs and even cats! I do GREAT with cats! There are 3 cats in my foster home, and I love them all. I have really strong herding instincts though, and like to keep track of my kitties and make sure they are safe and where they need to be! I herd them sometimes, and like to play with them when they will let me, and while I like to roughhouse, I never hurt them. I mainly leave the older cat (14) alone, because I can tell she isn’t in the mood for a puppy. The older male cat (3) lets me play with him sometimes, but when he isn’t in the mood, I let him be. The younger male cat (2), is one of my best buddies though. When I first met him, I could tell he was pretty different, that his brain had been a little damaged, and that he wasn’t “all there” and got confused a lot. So I like to protect him by standing over him, and checking on him a lot to make sure he is ok. I spend a lot of time licking and grooming him too. And when I play with the “little guy” I’m not as rough I am with the other cats, or with dogs, because I know he is special.  I also stay with him to make sure he eats his breakfast and dinner, and will herd him back to his food bowl to finish! [It was AMAZING to see how Mylee took to our little Chance kitten. She knew right away that he had to be dealt with in a calm, gentle, nurturing way, and she has ever since! Be sure to watch the video of them playing together!]

I am potty trained, but can be passive about letting you know I need to go out so mom and dad just make sure to let me out every couple of hours if I am free in the house and not in my kennel.  But I kennel so well during the day when they are at work (dad comes home to let both me and their dog out at lunch time), and at night when it is time to go to sleep! They tell me “kennel” and I walk right in and either get a treat or my Kong toy filled up with goodies! I also sleep through the night in my kennel without a peep or any accidents! Other commands I know are “sit,” “down,” (lay down) “off” (if I jump up on someone, or if you want me off the sofa), “up” (on to the sofa), “come,” and “out.” Out was used to train me to stay out of the bathroom while my foster parents are using it. I will lay down on the other side of the door with my nose in the door jamb looking at you.

I love to chew on rawhides, bones, and all of my toys. Squeaky toys with stuffing are my favorites because I can squeak and squeak them, and then tear them up and pull all the stuffing out, eat it, and chew up the squeaker! Mom says I’m not allowed to play with those types of toys anymore unless she can supervise me with them! But if I have plenty of toys and rawhides to chew on, they keep my interest so I won’t go after your shoes. I am still a puppy after all!

I will love you and everyone in your household so much, please let me join your family!

She gets along GREAT with kitties!

Mylee - full of life, love, and happiness!

This pup is a lovable bundle of joy who wants nothing more to be loved and have fun! Mylee spends a lot of time looking for love from her humans or the other animals in the house! She loves belly rubs and will stay motionless on her back for as long as you want to rub her's!
